By default, n3t Translate displays translation Button in editor buttons area. This differs per used editor. It could be displayed as button under the editor itself, or it could be integrated into editors toolbar. Generally, the translate button will be displayed at the same position as 'Read more' button.

By default, there is also translate button displayed next to Title field, and clicking on it will translate also Alias field.

Translation in Joomla content (not only articles, but any translatable content) works based on language field. Translation will be placed from source language (see configuation options) to language selected in language field. Translation engine could also recognize the source language based on content.
